An engagement story:

Frustrated employee

I found out my company was hiring a new position that I am qualified to hold. I informed my boss of my interest. Her immediate response was “Well, you need to have (insert list of skills) for that position”. I begrudgingly let her know that I had utilized those skills for many years. She was my new manager and had little understanding of my past experience. “Great.” she said. “It should be posted in a few days”.

Days passed and no posting.

I heard interviews for the non-posted listing are occurring. I am not saying I deserved the position, but they didn’t even provide me the opportunity to try for it.
